Dakota City is offering three Day Camp options for the summer of 2021. An Apprentice is one who learns a trade or skill from an experienced worker. Children can become a 1900’s Dakota City Apprentice through our camps.
The Master Apprentice Teen Camp is for 7th grade/age 13 and up from 9am-3pm Monday-Thursday. This camp is offered for the older camper who wants to continue their apprenticeship with more hands-on experience in the buildings, being immersed in village history and life in the early 1900s. Step back in time and build on your Junior Apprenticeship skills and activities knowledge, and have fun in 1900 Dakota City!
Junior Apprentice camp is offered to children ages 6 – 12, 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday. Elementary aged children will experience life in the 1900s by visiting many of the buildings in our village. They will have a chance to participate in daily chores and life activities of 1900 such as learning lessons in a country school, helping with household chores, and doing some of the crafts of the time. They will also have fun playing vintage games and dressing in old-fashioned clothes. Each day is different, will build on the preceding one, and continue projects and learning.
Try-It camp is for children ages 5-9, offered one day, June 23 or July 9. Half day from 9am-12:30pm or 11:30am-3pm for $35, full day from 9am-3pm for $50. Children will experience an introduction to our Village with hands-on activities in different buildings. The morning will be different from the afternoon. All children coming for Try-It Camp (both half-day and full day) need to bring a lunch and water bottle with them.
