Dakota City is offering two Day Camp options for the summer of 2018, and we are happy to be partnering with Farmington Community Education to offer online registration and payment options. An Apprentice is one who learns a trade or skill from an experienced worker. Children can become a 1900’s Dakota City Apprentice through our camps.
The Master Apprentice Teen Camp is for 7th grade/age 12 and up. This camp is offered for the older camper who wants to continue their apprenticeship with more hands-on experience in the buildings, being immersed in village history and life in the early 1900s. Step back in time and build on your Junior Apprenticeship skills and business knowledge, and have fun in 1900 Dakota City!
Junior Apprentice camp is offered to children ages 6 – 12. Elementary aged children will experience life in the 1900s by visiting many of the buildings in our village. They will have a chance to participate in daily chores and life activities of 1900 such as learning lessons in a country school, helping with household chores, and doing some of the crafts of the time. They will also have fun playing vintage games and dressing in old-fashioned clothes. Each day is different, will build on the preceding one and continue projects and learning.
Parents have the option to send their child to camp one, two or three days instead of all four days. Try-It camp for one day, July 16 for $55, two days July 16 & 17 is $90 and three days July 16, 17 and 18 is $120. Not all projects will be completed if the child is at camp fewer than 4 days. The cost for all 4-day camps is $135 per camper. Gift certificates are available to purchase from the office if you’d like to send a grandchild, niece, nephew or other child to camp.
