Dakota City holds many events throughout the year as we bring the past to the present. See below for information on our regular yearly events and watch for announcements of one-time and special events.

JOIN US For the VICTORIAN TEA!

This is one of Dakota City’s annual fundraisers and we are planning a very special tea luncheon and visit with Lady Jane.

This year’s event will reflect admiration for Queen Elizabeth and honor other women of distinction from Dakota County. Attendees may also celebrate and honor that special Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister or Friend that has impacted them, others or the community. Bring that special someone or a small photo in a frame to set on the table. Tables of eight to ten are available, as well as smaller groups. $50/ticket or Table Sponsor $500/10 tickets. Sponsor will be listed in program. All ages are welcome!

Please order your tickets promptly, due to limited seating. Ticket purchase deadline is April 25 or when event is sold out.

Please call our office at 651-460-8050 ext. 1, to reserve your tickets and arrange payment. We can accept credit card or payment by check.

Come experience the sights and sounds of the early 1900s at Dakota City during the Dakota County Fair! Go back in time to a summer day in a rural Minnesota town of 1900 – walk through historic buildings like our Depot, one-room School, and family homes, or see demonstrations at the Millinery, Print Shop, and Carpenter Shop. You can listen to music at the Bandstand and grab a delicious root beer float in the Drug Store, then head to the Gift Shop or General Store for candy and more. Don’t forget a refreshing glass of lemonade or hot corn-on-the-cob from our Corn & Lemonade Stand!

As the weather gets cooler and the leaves begin to change, Dakota City gets ready for fall with Autumn Harvest. This event changes annually with a different theme – stay tuned for more information on our next Autumn Harvest.

Our regular Autumn Harvest event will not take place in 2022. Get ready for the return of Autumn Harvest next year in the fall of 2023!

Christmas in the Village

Christmas in the Village

Saturday and Sunday, December 3, 4, 10, & 11 from 3-8 pm, we’ve got holiday fun for the whole family at Dakota City’s Christmas in the Village! Experience the spirit of this warm, holiday event through the village’s dazzling lights,  Christmas music in the Church, the scent of wood burning stoves and the sound of horses and their jingle bells as they pull trolleys through the village. Warm up with a cup of soup or mug of hot cocoa in the Drug Store. Check out demonstrations of early 1900s wintertime chores in the Millinery and Harris House.  There will also be old-fashioned candy and goods will be for sale at the Gift Shop and General Store. After you send your letter to Santa at the Post Office, you can visit him at the Depot! New this year is a model railroad display with holiday themed trains running around a festive winter scene in the village library. ONLINE TICKET SALES ARE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE REVIEW THE INFORMATION BELOW.

Admission tickets are available at the Admission Gate each day of the event, 3-8 pm. Cash or Credit Card accepted. $5 each, Children under the age of 5 are FREE.
