Model Train RailRoad Exhibit in Exhibit Hall West on the Fairgrounds

The Minnesota Garden Railroad Society (MGRS) was founded in 1990 with a dozen men and today has evolved to over 140 families.  We gather together at member’s homes in the summer to run trains, display at train shows, and hold an Annual Spring Banquet and Fall Chili Feed.

We will have many trains that will run during the fair featuring the following:

Kids Day (Tuesday, August 10th) will have Thomas & Friends trains running all day.

Military Day (Wednesday, August 11th) will have many military trains being pulled.

Senior Day (Thursday, August 12th) will have our steam engines and old-fashioned Pullman cars running.

Amtrak trains, diesels, logging trains, foreign trains, etc. will run all throughout the fair; we will have a minimum of 5 running loops on this layout.  You will see it all!

On Saturday and Sunday, we will bring in a 4 x 8 table top display in addition to the floor display with HO, N, and G gauge trains running at the same time to display the difference in sizes.

Food & Drinks

Ice cream, cookies, 1919 Root Beer and more will be available in the Drug Store every day of the fair.

Lemonade will be available every day at the lemonade stand across from the General Store.

Sweet corn will be available at the corn stand across from the Post Office, Wednesday through Sunday, starting at noon.
